proud to be of service

recently i decided it is time to give something back to this city that has given me so very much, dedicating 32 hours of my time to help beautify and make it an even more pleasant place to live. really, it's the least i can do.

the bureau of street maintainence's approach to community service is a progressive one, stressing a strong understanding of today's social ills and their causes, so that we the volunteers can more efficiently drive around aimlessly picking up discarded sofas. as such, day one was spent studying the fundementals; my cohort, a young exotic dancer at fantasy island, and myself watched no less than 8 hours of daytime television to get a feel for the challenges ahead. several hours of springer, maury and montel to familiarize ourselves with the pressing issue of today...babies' daddyies and whom they might be, children who do amazing things.fat people. we moved on to a healthy dose of court room dramas to give us a grasp of the ins and outs of the legal system, and finally an hour of flava flav on tyra. diligent notes were taken, and by the end of day 1 i was ready to hit the streets.

oh wait, i have been called away. day 2 gets exciting.
